"The Gladstone", also known as "A.A. Gladstone", "Gladstane" or "Gladstone’s" is a<br> Scottish reel in A Major. The parts are played AAB.<br> It was composed by James Scott Skinner (August 1843 – March 1927), a Scottish dancing<br> master, fiddler and composer. He is considered to be one of the most influential<br> fiddlers in Scottish traditional music and was known as "the Strathspey King".<br> He is also the composer of "The Bonnie Lass of Bon Accord".<br> The melody was originally printed in Skinner’s Monikie Series No. 2, a publication that<br> took its name from the town near Dundee in which Skinner lived until 1909, when his<br> second wife left him. Skinner recorded "Gladstone" in 1910 in London with pianist Ethel<br> Stuart.<br> It was also printed in Hunter's The Fiddle Music of Scotland (1988).<br> It was recorded by The Chieftains on Water from the Well and<br> Altan on Horse with a Heart and Island Angel.<br>
